Vancouver Island Counselling is a non-profit society supported by local employers, unions and employee groups. We provide professional counselling to affiliated employees, retirees and eligible family members as part of a workplace benefit. We also offer our services to members of the community on an hourly private pay basis.
Our counsellors have earned a well-deserved reputation for providing quality counselling and intervention services to organizations, their employees and family members. When our Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP) opened its doors in 1980, we provided service to one worksite with 500 employees. And now offices in Duncan, Nanaimo, Victoria, Port Alberni and the Lower Mainland provide wellness services to over 6800 employees and their families and over 100 member companies in these local communities!

We establish service priorities that align with our core values, mission and vision.
The services and programs that we offer are designed to bring a healing and transformative benefit to the employee (and family), the workplace, the employer and our communities. We support each organization we work with by delivering counselling and other resources that focus on employee and workplace wellness.
We strive to make a significant difference in people’s lives and are guided by a number of goals and values in this effort. We exist to promote the well being of employees and their families. We believe in the value of life- long learning. We also believe in the principles of prevention and intervention. Onsite workplace initiatives heighten the profile of our services and encourage individuals and families to seek assistance earlier rather than later.
We believe in the importance of availability and accessibility and implement this with a competent staff that can be contacted immediately in the office or over the telephone. We believe in the value of teamwork. Each and every member of our team plays a significant role in the delivery of our service and your overall level of satisfaction with our program.
